LaTeX and French spacing

LaTex uses a double space after sentences. This can produce problems in certain texts. If you prefer single spaces, you can use \usepackage{frenchspacing}. This can be confusing because French spacing today is referring to double spaces. This was not always so and double spaces was previously called English spacing, while French spacing referred to single spaces.

Pandoc

Pandoc is a tool to for converting between different markup formats. One of the greatest things about Pandoc is that you can convert from markdown to pdf. This is done through LaTeX, so the output is not only in a portable format but it is professional. I've personaly used Pandoc in my own scripts to write in markdown and convert to pdf through customized LaTeX headers. This makes it possibly to write articles in a plain (and distraction free) text editor and then produce professional pdf documents with a click of a button.

Welcome to mnmal.net

When you get a good domain-name, what do you do? Put up a webpage of course. As you can see this page was designed with minimalism in mind. It is tested in Firefox and Chromium and on devices like Nexus and Nexus 7. There will probably be more changes comming to the design as the page progresses. If you see any problems or have suggestions on how to improve it, please contact me.

So why so minimal you might ask. The short answer is: because I like it, and I'm not a designer. The simpler the better, both for me and for the reader. If you want a longer answer I recommend you read this entry at mnmlist.com. At the moment I'm not realy sure what will be posted on this blog. So far I have some thoughts about writing about Linux, Android, LaTeX and perhaps some other stuff. And if you got any ideas, don't hestitate to contact me. All other relevant information is posted on the about page.
